So annaish has started her travels and I could tell you all about the baggage nightmares that she has been beset with but I’m sure before long she will give a detailed account of the situation. Now I however am suffering very little baggage issues because my butt is firmly planted in Palmerston North. Of course this is far from the situation I desire given I actually hate (yes hate) being away from annaish. I don’t know what it is about her (which is probably what makes her so great) but everything is better with her around. I’m not talking about just big stuff, even the smallest things like watching TV, cooking, or just generally laying about the house. It’s reached the point now that we don’t always need to talk to enjoy each others company, it’s just the fact that I can feel she is there that give me the buzz.
It’s strange really but I never feel as if I have got out of that honeymoon period with annaish, she’s always made me feel like magic and frankly I can’t get enough of that. So now that she is out of the country I have decided to make myself very busy with a few projects that require significant attention and focus. First up is beginning development of a pc game (with a mate). I’ve been planning to do this for some time now but have only just cleared the time required to up skill myself. The game will be developed in Delphi (which I am already familiar with) but will be opengl based and that’s what I’m going to have to learn. So this week the plan is to spend two hours per night doing opengl tutorials to get my stills up so I can actually start building the game engine. Of course at this stage of development I’m hesitant to say too much about the game, but I’m sure as the dev continues I’ll make more info available.
The second big thing I want to get underway is up skilling in flash mx. I’ve always wanted to create flash animations but apart from doing basic stuff flash remains a mystery to me. so far the coolest thing I’ve made is a animated magic 8 ball that bounces along, of course its the sort of thing that I’ll look back on and go omg that is so crap but right now it feels like the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Originally I was going to make a video of halo (the xbox game) using my video camera and some stop motion animation with halo toys, but I’m now thinking that flash would be a better way to go. Plus its a good size project to get my learning underway.
Last and possibly the most important project (which means it’s the least likely one to get done) is increase my php skills. With annaish away for the next five weeks I’m thinking that’s the perfect time to actually do one of those teach yourself php in 24 hours books from cover to cover. Rather than do this one hour a day I’m thinking I’ll get more out of it if I compact it into 4, 6 hour session on Sundays.
So yeah that’s the plan, I’m sure it will all fall apart as time goes on as plans do but hey I’m just an imperfect guy in an imperfect world. Anyway I have a meeting at 9am and 10am tomorrow so I should probably get to bed (2 hours ago) although now that I’m finishing up I feel like there was something else I was going to write about. Oh well I’m sure if it’s important I’ll remember and if not you won’t miss it anyway 😉 night
