Ok so it turns out XNA is in fact alive and well with an ever growing community of gamers turned coders getting on the bandwagon, myself included. Perhaps what I just said is a huge understatement given the truly legendary stuff being created using XNA as pointed out by commenter’s in my last XNA post. Where this all goes is yet to be seem, but given some of the very creative stuff every day users have produced in other user generated content environments (such as youtube, flickr etc etc), I’d say the sky is the limit. I’m sure more than one games company will spring to life from ideas created in the XNA community.
Just to add to the list of resources for new XNA developers check out http://www.virtualrealm.com.au/ for some good XNA conversation and resources. Needless to say the more people that get involved (in game development) the more games created, and that’s always a good thing in my books.
On a side note Interestingly enough I was reading over at Xtramalts Digital Cave (home of everyone’s favorite NZ Xbox MVP) the upcoming GDC in San Francisco is known for it’s XNA announcements. Should be interesting to see what’s next from Microsoft and XNA.
