Now that we have the wonderful world of XBLA rolling out new titles every Wednesday I thought it would be a good time to create my top 5 most wanted XBLA ports remakes.
[[Golden Axe]]
Now here’s a game to sink your teeth into. There’s nothing like being an oversized barbarian (or a selection of other characters) riding a dragon, hacking and slicing your way through groups of enemies in an attempt to defeat “Death Adder”. Ok so the story wasn’t great but what it lacked in story this classic made up in pure gameplay goodness; two player mode was the icing on the cake.
[[Double Dragon]]
It’s highly unlikely this one will ever see the light of day on XBLA thanks to Nintendo owning it, but a I can dream. Double Dragon was the first game I ever played on the NES generation of consoles and I’ve never forgotten the hours of fun had kicking butt, particularly in two player mode.
[[Wacky Wheels]]
Wacky Wheels is an old school shareware dos game that to be perfectly honest is responsible for my poor grades in school. Basically it’s a cart racing game (think mario cart) with the added bonus of shooting road kill at your opponents. This would be a great to play with 4+ others via live and as far as I’m concerned would be a must have title.
[[Load Runner]]
One of the simplest game concepts out there, load runner manages to be highly addictive and at times an extremely challenging game. Sure the graphics are simple and sound is basic but old school games are all about gameplay and this ones got it for Africa!
1)Worms
[[Worms]]
The way I see it worms was practically made for the XBLA and Live play. On PC it was always an instant hit with anyone that gave it a go, move that fun into the living room and you’re on to a sure thing. The interface and game concept is so simple most people become competitive quickly making it fun for hardcore gamers and casual gamers alike.
So that’s my top five, if you could give new life to an ‘old school’ game, what would you resurrect?
