Kiwi tech blogs

Now that I’m blogging in a more serious way I’ve started paying a lot more attention to the New Zealand “tech” blog community. It never ceases to amaze me how many kiwis are out there blogging and doing (IMO) a fantastic job of it. In fact compared to many offshore bloggers (no I’m not going to name any) kiwis seem to take to blogging like ducks to water.

In fact I was particularly proud (I’m not sure that’s the right word for it but I’m going with that anyway) of how the recent news on the local loop unbundling was covered by the community. The best thing about it was it didn’t turn into an all out flame of Telecom, in fact the majority of post were very well thought out, yet simple and to the point. Morph Blog did a particularly good job of summing up and linking to a number of sites and the general reaction to the event.

Actually something that I notice on JD’s Blog just the other day was techtalkblogs. Techtalkblogs is (correct me if I’m wrong?) a Microsoft initiative designed to promote local… tech talk. Basically the site aggregates content from tech bloggers who submit their blog to the service. They’ve also got this great web 2.0 style going on with a digg like feature for voting for posts you like. Of course it’s also loaded with RSS feeds to help you keep up to date with what’s going on. It really is a great site and worth checking out if you haven’t already.

Anyway given I’ve been spending a bit of time reading around the local market I though it might be an idea to “share the love” and link to a few blogs I enjoy on a regular basis. This way all you geekpulp readers can broaden your horizons (even though I’m sure you guys/girls are looking at the world from Mt Everest) while also benefiting from the wealth of knowledge that is the New Zealand blogsphere.
