Well it’s finally happened, the government has unbundled the local loop. I’ll say that again, the government has unbundled the local loop. Of course depending on who you talk to this is widely considered to be a positive step for New Zealand. Now it’s easy to think that this will result in fast internet access for New Zealanders (and hopefully it will) but the ISP/internet business is a complicated one.
So now that this has happened it’s time for Telecom’s competitors to put their money where their mouth is. Do you hear me iHug, Orcon, Telstra, and Slingshot? Do the right thing for New Zealand and actually follow through on your promises; make this work for New Zealand. We are expecting great things, please don’t let us down.
