For some reason I keep building new desks and I can’t seem to stop myself. I’m not sure why I have this addiction and I’m even less sure that it’s a problem worth worrying about. I think my problem is I can make such cool desk for next to no cost, I’m constantly refining my design ideas, and it’s a good excuse to spend the weekend being manly with power tools.
So this weekend I’m building two more desks, one to replace my current desk at home and one for the office. I think at this point I would have built 8 desks in the last two years so basically one ever three months or so, and that’s not to mention the endless number of desk designs that I sketch on paper. The problem that I’m now facing is my designs are getting so, shall we say advanced, that I lack the resources to construct them as I envision them.
My current desk is a basic example of this, and while its design isn’t exactly advanced like some of the newer ideas, it is oddly shaped and requires a stronger frame than the wood I have access to will provide. So this weekends desk is going to be far more basic until I can organise a blow torch and welding gear for the madness that is my advanced desk designs.
