Cha Cha Changin

Geekpulp LogoIt’s funny how things go, you start this little blog site and it grows up so fast. Before you know it its running off to join the circus and you left with a dim-witted look of pride on your face. That’s right geekpulp is set for more changes very soon (mostly by user request), most of which will be completed by the end of this weekend. So why more changes? Well mostly to help us grow even more.

Right now Geekpulp is more or less self funded, not to be confused with self funding. While we are getting good support now days from the game companies we don’t make a cent of profit, in fact quite the opposite. While we are happy to do this due to our “love of the game” we also want to be able to do much much more for the community, and that requires ze money.

So what are we in for?

1) Geekpulp is moving to a new hosting company (Dreamhost). This is mostly due to it outgrowing its bandwidth limits at the old hosting company. Dreamhost will be providing us with 200GB of storage and a whopping 2TB of bandwidth so we should be happy there for a while. This change is likely to happen this Saturday so if you happen to be online this weekend you may see the site acting a little funny(er).

2) Drum roll please… Geekpulp will be expanding its coverage to all console gaming platforms. There are a few reasons behind this and they’re all quite simple. First of all it is extremely common for console gamers to have more than one console, be it a 360 and a Wii, or a Nintendo DS and a PS2/3 so it makes sense to talk about them all. Second to be a “viable thing” Geekpulp needs to grow its user base. More consoles mean more readers, more readers mean we can afford to improve the site and what we do for the community; be it running/sponsoring events, bigger better giveaways, funding improved content etc etc. No we are not turning the site into some huge money making IGN network of doom. As always our focus is improving the community’s gaming lifestyle.

3) The above changes will be invisible (to the naked eye anyway) as far as the sites design is concerned but there will be the odd layout change to accommodate the sites growth.

As always I would appreciate any feedback the community has re these and any other changes to the site. This is all designed to make things better for you so it’s important to me/us that you speak your mind.
