So the word on the street is PS3 isn’t going to have a gamerscore/achievement system. To be honest while it’s another mark against the PS3 I can’t say its really the end of the world. Don’t get me wrong I am by no means defending the PS3, it’s just I think gamer score on the 360 is a load of BS designed to sell the “crappy” games.
OK BS might be a big call perhaps a better term way of saying it would be a misrepresentation of skill in its current form. The problem is there are no rules (that I’m aware of?) about how game developers implement gamerscore. This means that in theory a developer could grant 1000 points by simply selecting a menu item. Sadly game developers who have made little effort to produce high quality games cough EA cough on the 360 seem to use peoples desire for higher gamerscore as a means to sell more games. I’m not sure if gamerscore was designed with this purpose in mind but I would suspect it was.
So really given the gamerscore system that MS have produced I can’t help feel the gaming world is better off without Sony’s version.
