In a disappointing turn of events it appears that E3 2007 is canceled and future events (2008+) will be on a much smaller scale than previous years. Apparently the logic behind is a cost versus return argument with publishers complaining they don’t get the exposure they expect for the large investment required to attend the event.
I can completely understand where the publishers/organisers are coming from but it is sad to see such an iconic event come to an end. Sure E3 will live on in one form or another but by the sounds of things it will never be the same again. This is personally very disappointing given as I was planning to attend the 2007 event. Sadly a scaled down E3 may not be worth the large cost of travelling to the US, time will tell.
Perhaps an alternative for us in 2007 will be CES? Billy G will be keynote speaker so that’s incentive in it self.
