Microsoft Origami Project?

Scobleizer was the first’blog where I heard anything about Microsoft’s “Origami Project” and even then the information was vague at best. Scoble described it as a “a new kind of device” just before running off to hide from the NDA police. So with this little bit of info and a link to origamiproject.com my interest was aroused enough to let the searching begin.

From here I came across an article on engadget which covered the growing speculation as to what this new kind of device could be, but more importantly they had images of what the device looks like according to an unnamed but apparently reliable source. I really didn’t expect to see images of the device so early in my search but was happy to see it was some kind of ultra portable lifestyle PC. Then just when I thought I had reached the limit of what I was going to learn a flash video appears via digg. The video contains footage of origami being used in a variety of scenario’s from a standard tablet PC use to a gaming machine playing halo.

Of course, all of this is nice to look at but until more details’of specs and features surface, videos and images are more or less meaningless. Many companies, including Microsoft, have attempted to create a “lifestyle” portable device for the masses in the past, but’low performance and high prices have meant poor sales and users like myself left wanting. Will origami break the mould? I certainly hope so.
