Well today is the day (well potentially the day) that I get my first Mac. Last week I decided that I would finally put my money where my mouth is and get myself into the world of Apple but wasn’t exactly sure what road to go down. Given I had a limited budget my original thoughts were to get a new Mini Mac (a bargain at around $1000) but found a more “financially viable” solution. You see it suddenly dawned on me that trade me could potentially have a few second hand macs floating around, and sure enough they had about 5 different models in my price range. Ideally I was looking for something under $500 so I was happy to find a nice old school iMac (G3 400MHz, 512MB Ram, a 10GB internal hard drive and a 20GB external firewire hard drive, all running OS X 10.1) for the bargain (well it feels like a bargain anyway) price of $380. Of course this isn’t exactly a power house mac, but for a beginner like me I think its a great place to start, and I’m sure my iPod will feel more at home than on my PC. I’m expecting the package to arrive sometime today or possibly tomorrow, and I’m very excited to say the least. Of course given I’m new to Macs you can expect to hear all about the ups and downs of a new mac user, right here. I’m sure it will be a fun ride…well for me anyway.
