Easter…a busy time eh

Wow I’ve been all go this Easter! It all began on Friday morning with the construction of two new desks. The original design was actually meant to be very basic and only take a day to complete. However if the history of my desk building addition has taught me anything it’s that things rarely go according to plan. We started at the leisurely hour of 10am, and proceeded to start building to plan, until we got to the construction of the desk top itself. In the original plan the top was going to be a simple vinyl surface, but naturally my father had other plans. After some time I gave in to his idea and we went with a more time consuming but pretty wooden top. So by 6:00pm we had to leave the desk until later in the weekend as we had to parties to get to and a good friend from Auckland to meet up with.

So on to party number one, which was a 21st birthday for an old friend from my primary school days. It was really good meeting up with the old friends again, its sad as you get older that it’s so hard to find the time to meet up with friends. There were a few people in particular at this party that are really good fun to hang out with every time I see them, but unfortunately due to the business of all our lives, we are lucky to see each other once or twice a year.

Anyway after the speeches and cake we said our goodbyes and made our way to party number two, a 24th birthday party of a more recent friend. We arrived to his place at about 10:45pm and spent a good few hours listening to old school vinyl and drinking. By now I’m feeling quite happy on the vodka I’ve been drinking and we head off to the pubs for a boogy. After our short walk to the pub I was felling very drunk and this was reflected in my high level of “interesting” dance moves. Then, at the height of my drunken stupor, all my mates from party number one showed up. It was so great, old friends, new friends, great music, and lots of alcohol. So at about 3am we made our way back to our house to get some well earned sleep.

Saturday was spent with our mate from Auckland, just hanging out eating our Easter eggs and nursing my hang over. Later that night we all headed out for dinner to celebrate the visiting friends’ birthday this coming Tuesday. After dinner we headed back to another friends flat for drinks…and a show in the end. After a few drinks our host brought out her belly dancing outfit recently purchased on her trip to Egypt. Of course I wasn’t long before we had all dressed up in the outfit and tried our best to dance up a storm, Aramis look particuly fetching but like all the guys sucked at the actual dance side of things, stupid hips!

The next day we said goodbye to our Auckland friend and made our way back to my parents place to continue the desk construction. By 5:30 both desks where completed and l was feeling absolutely stuffed. So I went home vowing to return the next day to collect my latest creations. The rest of my day was spent watching movies with my girl on the couch and sleeping.

So now we arrive at today, and like the rest of the time this Easter it was busy. Me and my girl cleaned our house, collected the desks and then I got some more done on the wedding video I’ve been working on for some friends. So in the end it was a great Easter filled with good times but not nearly enough sleep.
