Tonight is ze night of ze cooking, and for the next two weeks the style is French I think. Of course I’m trying to convince my girlfriend this means drinking lots of wine, swearing, and not shaving anything accept the unmentionables. Of course shes not buying it, which is probably because I’m not selling it. So I’m hopeful that the next two weeks food is more interesting to cook than the kebabs and lentils weve made the past two weeks (not really my cup of tea).
What I’m really excited about is the arrival of my graphics tablet today. It looks like it will take some time to get used to it, but I’m confident my skills with it will increase in time. So Ive decided that tonight, before cooking, I’m gonna spend a few hours getting to know my new tool (hehe..tool).
Last night I also began Yoga with my Girlfriend, and to my surprise some of the poses were much harder than I had expected, in fact at times a broke a sweet! Turns out I have lots of upper body strength (No surprises there) but my legs are like jelly, which is probably because Ive never worked them out at the gym. It was really good to do Yoga with my little lady; shes been doing it for about 6-12 months, so she new all kinds of tips and tricks to help me along the way.
I think what surprised me the most is how flexible I am. When I was I kid I could put my foot behind my head, and now ten years on, I can still almost do it! My goal is to be able to lick my back by midyear (yes I’m joking). What amazes me is how similar Yoga and Zen are, especially given the distances between the to countries (India and Japan isn’t it?). Then again I’m sure if I talked to a Zen or Yoga master they would say, truth is truth, no matter what name is given to it.
Anyway getting back to life, I was disappointed to have somehow missed the Cuba Street Festival in Wellington the other weekend. I’m not really sure how it slipped under my radar but it did so I guess Ill have to wait until next year…bugger. On the bright side there is a Arts Festival on in Welly over the next couple of weeks, so next weekend Ill shoot down to see at least some of it.
So this weekend looks to be a good one, I’m off to watch Shakespeare in the park, which one of my mates is doing the lighting for, and I think one of other friends is stage manager…but I’m not 100% sure yet. I just hope the weather is good, especially given recent events i.e. massive flooding costing millions.
Also on Monday I got to see my recently wed friend who gave me the selection of music they want to go with their wedding video. Which I must say is coming along nicely, and all going well should be finished by Sunday night…wOOt!
Anyway I meant to be working not being a slack ass and writing my blog, so laterz for now.
